BALTIMORE, MD (Feb. 28, 2024) - Anchored by the solid performance of Dy'Jhanik Armfield, the CIAA Northern Division champion Lady Vikings defeated the St. Augustine Falcons 64-60 to earn a spot in the semi-final round of the CIAA tournament.
In a tight game punctuated by five tied scores and 10 lead changes, rebounding and tenacious defensive play proved to be the edge the Lady Vikings needed, as the remainder of stats for both teams would be nearly identical.
While the Lady Vikings ended the first half with a field goal percentage of 55.7%, it was the Lady Falcons who left the court with a five-point lead. In the second half, Alanis Hill got to work getting the job done on both ends of the floor connecting for three consecutive field goals, a steal, and two rebounds.
Armfield, the Food Lion MVP of the game, finished the game with 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists. The Lady Vikings will face the winner of the Shaw vs. Claflin matchup on Friday, March 2, at noon for a spot in the CIAA finals.
