ECSU Announces Homecoming 2024: Welcome Back to “The Liz: There’s No Place Like Home”    

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) announces its highly anticipated Homecoming 2024 celebration themed, “The Liz, There’s No Place Like Home.” Set to take place from Oct. 20-27, this year’s Homecoming promises an extraordinary week of Viking pride, community spirit and lasting memories.   

Homecoming Week at ECSU is more than a tradition; it is a cherished reunion that brings together students, alums, faculty, staff and the Elizabeth City community. This year’s theme, inspired by the iconic phrase from “The Wiz,” captures the warmth, unity, and homecoming spirit that make ECSU a beloved institution.   

Homecoming 2024 will be a lively celebration with a week of exciting events planned. From the vibrant parade through the heart of Elizabeth City to the intense football game, there is something for everyone at “The Liz.” Alums can look forward to reconnecting with old friends, sharing memories, and seeing the progress and achievements that continue to shape the university.  

“Homecoming is a time to honor our traditions, showcase our accomplishments and create lasting memories,” Monica Miller, director of the Educational Opportunity Center and Homecoming co-chair. “We look forward to seeing everyone at ‘The Liz, There’s No Place Like Home.’”  

 

Event Highlights:  

  • Sunday, Oct. 20 – MISTER & MISS ECSU CORONATION AND RECEPTION: Celebrate the crowning of our new campus royalty with a formal ceremony followed by a reception. – Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center  
  • Thursday, Oct. 24 – Community Connections: Join us for an engaging event fostering meaningful interactions and partnerships between ECSU students, alums, the local community and many others. More information to come.  
  • Friday, Oct. 25 – Day Party: Alumni are invited to return to The Yard/Quad to reconnect with classmates and enjoy an afternoon of fun.  
  • Friday, Oct. 25 – Viking Step Show/Stroll-Off: Experience an electrifying evening of fraternities and sororities competing in a high-energy step show and stroll-off.  (Location TBD)  
  • Saturday, Oct. 26 – Parade and Pep Rally: The streets of Elizabeth City will come alive with the annual Homecoming Parade.  
  • Saturday, Oct. 26 – Homecoming Football Game: The highlight of the week, the ECSU Vikings will face off against their rivals in a thrilling football game at Roebuck Stadium. Halftime will feature a spectacular performance by the ECSU Marching Band and much more.  
  • Saturday, Oct. 26 – Block Party: Join us for a vibrant postgame celebration featuring food, music, vendors and fun. All are welcome!  
  • Saturday, Oct. 26 – PRE-DAWN PARTY (ECSU Students): R.L. Vaughn Center 
  • Saturday, Oct. 26 – Black Encore Cabaret: Williams Hall 
  • Sunday, Oct. 27 – Prayer Breakfast: Alumni and Pre-Alumni Prayer Breakfast, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. – Williams Hall (Events are subject to change.)
