Information
The Higher Education Opportunity Act requires colleges and universities that participate in federal student aid programs to disclose certain information to current and prospective students and to university employees. Please contact the financial aid office at financial_aid@ecsu.edu if you need assistance obtaining any of this information.
Financial Aid Disbursements
- Financial Aid will be disbursed to your account Grants and Scholarshipsappear as a credit on your bill.
- Merit Scholarshipsappear as a credit on your bill until the funds are received.
- Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans – Student are required to accept the loans in Banner Self Service and then complete a master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling. Accepted loans appear as temporary credit until they disburse to your account.
- Parent PLUS Loan– This requires the parents approved Parent plus loan application which requires a credit check and a Parent Master Promissory note completed by the parent.
- Grad Plus Loanrequire the student's completed FAFSA, the parent's approved Parent PLUS Loan application
(which requires a credit check), and a Master Promissory Note filled out by the parent. If
these requirements are met, a temporary credit (memoed aid) will appear on the billing
statement and actual funds will disburse 10 days before the start of classes.
- Alternative loans are applied as a temporary credit aid if the loan has been approved.
- Federal Work Study does NOT appear on the billand does not reduce the amount owed. Students are responsible for finding their own jobs and using their salary earned for school-related expenses.
- NCSEAA Scholarships, funds for these scholarships will disburse to your student account 10 days prior to the start of classes.
- Exception: If you were not eligible for direct loans prior to census and registered after census for at least a total of 5 hours (graduate) or 6 hours (undergraduate), you may now be eligible for direct loans.
Grants – Most grants awarded are need based. Grant do not have to be repaid
Federal Grants, with the exception of TEACH grants, are awarded to students demonstrating significant financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Grant funding does not have to be repaid (unless, for example, you withdraw from school and owe a refund). The availability of grant funding is limited.
TEACH is not a need-based grant and could require repayment if the recipient does not fulfill the service agreement.
